The Scottish Archive Network Knowledge Base is a database of answers to questions frequently asked in Scottish archives, combined with a directory of where to find historical records - arranged geographically. This facility is developing all the time and will build into a major research resource for all types of archive users, from complete beginners to regular researchers, with contributions from our participating archives.

The Knowledge Base is arranged into three sections:
record types, subjects (including people), and places (the SCAN Gazetteer).
