Sheriffdoms
The records of Dumfries sheriff court are
held by the National Archives of Scotland. For further details go

JP court records
Justice of the Peace records for Dumfriesshire
are held by the National Archives of Scotland, apart from two volumes
of quarter session records 1763-1815, in the Ewart Library, Dumfries.
Register of sasines and sasine abridgements
Registers of sasines for Dumfries and Stewartries
of Kirkcudbright and Annandale are held by the National Archives
of Scotland. Sasine abridgements for the county of Dumfries, 1781-1970
are held by the National Archives of Scotland, and by Dumfries &
Galloway Archives for 1781-1970 (with small gaps). Published indexes
for the period 1617-1780 are held by Dumfries & Galloway Archives.
